Gradual Fitness was created for people that feel uncomfortable, self-conscious or nervous in a large gym environment; people that are looking for the privacy and discretion of a one-on-one personal trainer and private fitness experience (private gym).

My mission is to motivate, educate, train and guide you back to the vitality and energy you deserve. I, Johan, pride myself on the specific knowledge and experience I’ve gained from studying from leaders in the fitness and health fields. I have applied this knowledge and experience to create customized programs for clients ranging in age from 40 plus with great success. I am here to help you get started and keep you going; together, we will find suitable exercises that take your medical history, injuries and abilities into account, so you can achieve your fitness goals safely and feel good about your health.

I am more than your personal trainer - I am your mentor, friend, and partner in fitness and health. I work alongside you to educate you on safe ways to move get your body gradually used to getting stronger; that way, you can gain life-long strength while avoiding the unnecessary aches, pains, and injuries high intensity fitness programs or boot camp style classes might bring.

About Johan

I know client’s journey well because I've traveled it myself. At the age of 55 and years of putting health on the back burner, I decided that I was ready to get fit and healthy again. In my younger days, I played competitive sports including soccer, badminton, and volleyball; and after college, I even went on to pursue a career as a commercial deep sea diver. After this, I completed a 7-year certificate program in Quality at Concodia University, started a family, and pursued my career in aerospace, which really took off.  These were all good things: but as life got busy, fitness got less and less of my attention.

To get back to my optimal health and that sense of vitality I craved, I started attending fitness classes, but found they were aimed at a younger crowd. I was unable to find a personal trainer that could empathize with my circumstances, and all the challenges and necessary considerations that come with age. I attended Conestoga College’s Personal Trainer Program and soon after, began working with clients who faced similar challenges. Because of this experience and my dedicated continuing study in fitness and nutrition, I am able to provide personalized and unique solutions for every mature client I work with. When you’re ready to start getting the most out of your life, I’m ready to help.
